Dreams of French Food...And A Giveaway

I am daydreaming about French food this morning...

What are your favorite French foods? If you have been to Paris before, do you have a restaurant that you love?

My favorites are...macarons, pain au chocolat, croque monsieur, baguettes with jambon et beurre (ham and butter), crepes and steak frites. Pretty basic, but all delicious.

When my daughter graduated from high school, I surprised her with a trip to Paris for just the two of us. On that trip we discovered my favorite place to dine in Paris -  Chez Flottes on Rue Cambon. Every trip back since I have made sure to go there for dinner. Their specialty is roast chicken and a dish called aligot, which is potatoes whipped with tomme cheese...seriously, one of the best dishes I have EVER eaten.
All of this talk of French cuisine made me think of a book review I read recently  of Mastering the Art of French Eating by Ann Mah. As soon as I read the review I knew I would be pre-ordering the book ASAP.

Here is the synopsis from Good Reads:

When journalist Ann Mah’s diplomat husband is given a three-year assignment in Paris, Ann is overjoyed. A lifelong foodie and Francophile, she immediately begins plotting gastronomic adventures à deux. Then her husband is called away to Iraq on a year-long post—alone. Suddenly, Ann’s vision of a romantic sojourn in the City of Light is turned upside down.   So, not unlike another diplomatic wife, Julia Child, Ann must find a life for herself in a new city.  Journeying through Paris and the surrounding regions of France, Ann combats her loneliness by seeking out the perfect pain au chocolat and learning the way the andouillette sausage is really made. She explores the history and taste of everything from boeuf Bourguignon to soupe au pistou to the crispiest of buckwheat crepes. And somewhere between Paris and the south of France, she uncovers a few of life’s truths.

Unfortunately for me, the book isn't being released until September 26th, the day AFTER I leave on my trip. I guess I will have to read it when I get home and reminisce about all the delicious food I ate while I was in Paris. But luckily for one of you, I am giving a copy away. A copy will be on the way to the lucky winner from Amazon by the time my plane lands in Paris.
All you have to do to enter is to follow me on Bloglovin', Google+, Facebook or Instagram (one entry for each follow) AND leave me a comment telling me  either your favorite French food or your favorite place to eat in Paris. On Friday morning, I will choose a winner and arrange for the book to be delivered.
The author, Ann Mah, is also a blogger so if you are interested in learning more about her and the book, definitely check out her blog.
Bon Appetit!
