On My Radar Screen

My weekend reading, Picnic In Provence...photo via another of my favorite authors, Janice MacLeod
Happy Friday! Do you ever feel like you blink and a week goes by? This week has just flown! I am finally catching up on my reading - both blogs and books...here are a few things that have pinged my radar screen this week...
Ines de la Fressange Opens a Boutique in Paris from Have Some Decorum...just another reason I NEED to go to Paris sooner rather than later!

Reclaiming the Age Old Art of Getting Lost from the New York Times...
Also the New York Times, A $1000 Day in Paris for $100...

My photo from my 2013 trip
A Day in Venice by Quintessence presents a heavenly weekend in Venice...
15 Piece Travel Wardrobe by Une Femme d'Un Certain Age - yes, she can pack for three weeks in a carry-on...amazing! She is currently traveling in Amsterdam and London - definitely worth following along!
Via My French Country Home
A Pretty Cottage in Normandy from My French Country Home...totally swoonworthy...

This is not the least bit travel related but it is SO touching and offers some excellent lessons for life - Sheryl Sandberg on Choosing Life and Finding Meaning after her husband's death.
Books...

I just finished reading My Paris Dream by Kate Betts. It was more fashion oriented than Paris oriented but I still really enjoyed it.
I also read the The Storied Life of AJ Fickry by Gabrielle Zevin - I could NOT put this book down. Thank goodness it is short so it only took a few hours to read. What a gem of a book...definitely add this to your summer reading list.
My husband, son and I are doing a "family book club" where we are all reading the same book. We chose In Sunlight and In Shadow by Mark Helprin.  He is one of my favorite authors and, boy, can he write! This is one of most beautifully written books I have read in years - I am only 100 pages in but I don't want it to end.  It is as much a love story of New York City as between the two main characters. I still have 558 pages to go but I have a feeling it will become a favorite.
One last thing before I sign off for the weekend...everyone cross your fingers that by tomorrow evening we will be celebrating the first Triple Crown Champion in 37 years. American Pharoah wasn't my Derby pick, but I love Bob Baffert and I think a Triple Crown is just what the "Sport of Kings" needs right now - Go Pharoah!
Have a fabulous weekend, my friends...wherever you may be wandering...
xoxo
